<p>Modellers create highly detailed models suitable for use in visual effects work for film, that cover a wide range of organic and non-organic objects.<br />
Needs To Do</p>
<p>Work closely with the texture painters, shader writers, look development artists and the riggers to generate models that are suitable for feature film work.<br />
Create models that may be organic in nature, such as various creatures or characters, or they may be models of rigid objects such as cars, buildings, props or sets. They will need to make use of a wide range of reference materials.<br />
Create models from scratch or from scans, using reference photography, maquettes, miniatures or other set models.<br />
Work closely with leads to determine an appropriate level of detail for any given model.<br />
Work closely with the riggers to produce models that meet their work flow requirements, and with texture painters to determine the optimal UV layout for a model.</p>
<p>Needs To Know</p>
<p>Strong spatial awareness and a good sense of form, scale and proportion.<br />
A keen eye for detail<br />
A full working knowledge of modelling in Maya<br />
Ability to work with packages such as Mudbox or Z-brush is an advantage<br />
Ability to create polygon and sub-division surface modelling. Knowledge of NURBS modelling is not generally required, but a plus<br />
Ability to deliver a &#8220;clean&#8221; model with tidy polygon/sub-d placement and good basic UV layout for texturing<br />
Strong understanding of linux/ unix based operating systems<br />
Ability to judge when to model detail or have the detail added through the shading, by liaising with the shader writers and look development artists.<br />
At least 3 years experience in feature film. Experience in other areas of visual effects (TV, Games) will also be taken into account.</p>

<p>To create photo realistic textures and other related maps or images for mapping on to 3D objects.<br />
Needs To Do</p>
<p>In most visual effects work, the textures need to be created to a high level of realism and fit the requirements of the model pipeline and shading set up. It will be essential to work closely with the other members of the project team in these areas. It will be necessary to learn some of our in house systems and become fluent in their use, as well as learn other off the shelf packages as required. Images may need to be created from scratch, but it is more likely that the artist will need to make use of extensive reference photography as source material. They may also need to source their work from a variety of other visual resources (paintings, reference books, architecture).</p>
<p>Needs To Know</p>
<p>A full working knowledge of Photoshop, or similar paint package, is vital. Knowledge of Body Paint, Deep Paint or other 3D paint packages would be a big advantage.<br />
Strong visual skills &#8211; a good eye for detail, scale, composition, colour and form. Supporting artwork such as a portfolio will be considered, but is not essential.<br />
A good knowledge of how the texture painting work fits into the bigger picture, particularly in relation to the Modelling and Shading &amp;Look Development areas.<br />
Work closely with a Modeller to determine a optimal UV layout.<br />
Comfortable with Windows and/or Mac operating systems. A good knowledge of Linux would be an advantage. Knowledge of Maya and/or rendering software a plus.<br />
At least 1 years experience in feature films would be beneficial. Experience in other areas of visual effects (TV, Games) will also be taken into account.</p>

<p>For those that don’t know, we’re an Animation &amp; FX studio based in Bath, UK.</p>
<p>The work is piling up, and we’re undertaking some big jobs that we’ll need some seriously skilled people for. We’re looking to find people as soon as possible too, so ideally you’d be available right away, or in the very, very, near future (as in, the end of April / Early May)…</p>
<p>Obviously we can’t disclose too much about the job specifics, but we can give you an indication of the type of work it will be.</p>
<p>It’s a series of television commercials that will involve creating original, fully CG environments, with stylised characters (not a million miles away from some our previous work that you might find on our website). The script(s) are scenario focused, contain humour, and present an opportunity to build an in-depth world from scratch which will potentially lead on to continuous work and future jobs in the same universe.</p>
<p>Animators<br />
As mentioned, it’s stylised characters, so the more character work you’ve done, and understanding you have of that, the better.</p>
<p>Modellers<br />
Ideally we’d have you modellers in ASAP, as we’d like you to be a part of the design process, and help us nail the characters, and environments. There’s going to be a lot to build.</p>
<p>Generalists &#8211; XSi based please!<br />
Rigging, Lighting, Render Management, and anything else you can bring to the table.</p>
<p>There’s also another job that’s based around folding paper, similar to origami, which we’re keen to find an experienced generalist for who may be able to look after the work pretty much by themselves. If you’ve done CG paper styled work, be sure to let us know.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re really only after experienced people on this occasion please, and you must already be eligible to work in the EU.</p>
